Fans are increasingly concerned about the future activities of popular K-Pop group (G)I-DLE following the latest actions by their management company, CUBE Entertainment.
Debuting in 2018, (G)I-DLE has quickly risen to prominence within the K-Pop industry. Known for their powerful and diverse music, much of which is written by their leader Soyeon, the group tackles topics like female empowerment and challenging harmful societal norms.
However, CUBE Entertainment has faced criticism over its treatment of the group throughout the years. Soyeon has openly shared her mixed feelings about the company, even revealing that one of their hits was almost not released because of CUBE's decisions.
Recently, fans have noticed a move by CUBE Entertainment that has ignited worries about (G)I-DLE's future. A tweet posted on X highlighted that CUBE had applied for additional items to be included in (G)I-DLE's trademark properties.

While these items might appear random, some fans believe this action aims to prevent others, including the group members, from selling or dealing with a wide range of goods under the (G)I-DLE name. This situation is reminiscent of a similar issue that occurred in December 2016 with another group, HIGHLIGHT, formerly known as Beast. After departing from CUBE Entertainment, HIGHLIGHT was forced to change their name due to a trademark dispute with the company-a conflict that was only resolved earlier this year.Notably, a month before their departure, CUBE had similarly registered items under BEAST's trademark. Fans are worried that this recent move by CUBE might indicate that (G)I-DLE is not planning to renew their contract with the company.
If this is the case, it could lead to significant challenges for the group in promoting under their current name, if they are able to do so at all. The possibility of history repeating itself has left fans anxious about the future of (G)I-DLE and their continued success in the K-Pop industry.
