Ahead of the release of the new anime film, "Fureru," YOASOBI announced that they will be unveiling their upcoming OST, "Monotone"!
Earlier on June 5, the duo YOASOBI confirmed the release of its new song, "Monotone," which will be the theme song for the animated film, "Fureru" (literal translation: "Touch")
The song will be the duo's first-ever OST for an anime film and expectation is high if they will be able to continue their popularity in 2024 following their preceding hit songs.
This includes their track, "Undead," the theme song for the anime series, "Monogatari Series Off & Monster Season," and their original song "Stage First," which will be the 2024 NHK Sports Theme.
In the meantime, the popular J-pop duo's new song's release date is yet to be revealed. However, YOASOBI already made their official statement, saying:
"The song, 'Monotone' that I (Ayase) wrote this time was created while facing the 'relationship between people' that I felt through the movie, as well as the loneliness and feelings of thinking about someone that I feel in my own life."
They added:
"The world is continuously developing through the days and since we are in an environment where it is easy to communicate with various tools, I feel that it is important to face the loneliness that we feel because of this, so I put that feeling into the song. I hope you will enjoy it along with the movie."
Meanwhile, YOASOBI reached its global popularity following its global megahit, "IDOL," the theme song of the popular anime, "Oshi no Ko" released in 2023.
Since then, the duo's rise in the music scene beyond Japan got stronger, and they were also invited to stand on the Mojave stage of U.S. Coachella, one of the largest music festivals.
Moving on, YOASOBI's "Monotone," on the same day published its sample, along with the teaser of the anime film, "Fureru" created based on a novel.
The movie will be dropped on October 24, which was a work of the power trio; Director Tatsuyuki Nagai, Screenwriter Mari Okada, and Character Designer, Masayoshi Tanaka.
The three were known for their synergy in creating box-office animated films, including, "Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day" (2013), "The Anthem of the Heart" (2015), and "Her Blue Sky" (2019).
With this, there is an increasing expectation from the movie. Regarding its plot, "Fureru" will center on the story of three childhood friends and one animal whose hearts are connected by the power of a mysterious creature. This work aims to teach people about the true connections between people.
So far, the voice actors who will be lending their voices to the main characters are Ren Nagase, Ryuta Bando, and Kentaro Maeda.
They will be joined by Haruka Shiraish, Iwami Manaka, Sarutoki Minagawa & Kenjiro Tsuda.
