Andy Lau Nearly Experiences Dangerous 4m-High Fall During Latest Concert
Hong Kong veteran entertainer Andy Lau nearly experienced a dangerous four-meter-high fall during his latest concert in Shanghai, China.
On July 5, 2024, Andy Lau kicked off his "Today... Is The Day" tour at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai. During the event, Andy Lau performed more than 30 of his greatest hits for over two-and-a-half hours. Despite his stellar performance, the singer sadly also experienced a near-life-threatening experience.

While performing his 2002 hit, "Practice," Andy Lau experienced an unexpected slip. Following the slip, the singer was reportedly sliding on his knee towards the edge of an unprotected platform that was four meters above the ground. He was seen teetering on the edge, with nearly half of his body hanging dangerously over the edge.
Thankfully, he was able to brake in time and did not experience any substantial injuries.
Photos and videos of the situation soon made its rounds online. Soon, people compared Andy Lau's situation to the 1993 tragedy involving Beyond's Wong Ka Kui. The singer fell to his death after suffering a three-meter-high stage fall while filming for a variety show in Japan.

Luckily, he was able to react quickly and managed to step back.
On July 6, Andy Lau addressed the near-fatal accident during a concert. He apologized to fans for startling them, saying, "I'm sorry I performed a dangerous move last night. I did not expect it to be so slippery." He expressed hope that his fans would forgive him for not being careful and promised he would take better care of himself.

Fans have taken to his Instagram to beg Andy Lau to not perform any dangerous stunts for future shows. It appears he listened, for his future shows no longer featured the dangerous move.
Netizens also reminded the performer of his 2017 accident. During a commercial shoot, Andy Lau experienced pelvic injuries that forced him into a six-month hiatus.
