BLACKPINK member Jennie had her Korean Wiki page edited by a malicious user following her indoor smoking controversy.
On July 10, 2024, a post titled "Someone went to Jennie's Namu Wiki page to change it" was shared with Nate Pann, one of South Korea's most well-known online community forums. In the post, the author included a screenshot of Jennie's Namu Wiki page, which was edited by an anonymous user.
Namu Wiki is considered the Korean version of Wikipedia. However, it is considered much more lax in terms of its rules regarding editing. As they do not necessarily require references or sources, the page has often been criticized for being inaccurate or simply wrong.
Jennie has become the latest victim of malicious editing. The user changed her real name from "Kim Jennie" to "Nguyeon Cuong Phuc." Instead of placing her actual birthplace, which is Bundang in Seongnam, they changed it to Hanoi. They also changed her nationality from Korean to Vietnamese.
The author expressed their shock at the change and wondered if people were being hateful due to her indoor smoking/vaping controversy.
Korean netizens who saw the post also expressed their shock. Many believed that the moderators of Namu Wiki should be changed, and the rules changed so that only verifiable people or fans can change the information on the page.

Others were mostly shocked at the racism that was displayed when mocking Jennie. They commented on how racist South Korean people can get and pointed out how rude the editing was towards Vietnamese people. It was also pointed out that people in South Korea react strongly when Westerners are racist towards Asians, and yet they have no problem being racist themselves.
Some comments read,
- "Do people actually enjoy this? Our country seriously has the most racist people."
- "Isn't this f*cking rude towards Vietnamese people?"
- "People get so worked up when a Westerner is racist towards Asians. Meanwhile, our country is the best at being racist."
- "Seriously, we need to have different moderators for Namu Wiki. And we should make it so that only fans can change this kind of information."
- "Nguyeon Cuong Phuc... Wow..."

Back in July 2, Jennie shared a vlog following her business trip to Capri, Italy. Soon, a clip from the vlog surfaced, showing Jennie vaping while getting her hair and make-up done. The idol drew backlash for smoking in an indoor space and blowing smoke at a staff member's face. Following the backlash, Jennie issued an apology via her agency, ODD ATELIER.
