THIS Fifth-Gen K-Pop Idol Reveals She Read The Bible Because Of Anime

A fifth-generation K-pop idol revealed that she binge-read The Bible because of her love for a certain anime.

On July 18, 2024, a video titled "QWER Chodan & Magenta explain the world of geeks with KIOF Julie & Haneul" was uploaded to the YouTube channel MUSINA TV.

In this video, QWER members Chodan and Magenta joined Kiss Of Life's Julie and special host Haneul as guests. Here, they talked about their otaku interests, such as anime and manga. As Haneul is the only member of Kiss Of Life who watches anime, the show was meant to educate Julie on what it means to be an otaku.

During the show, Magenta revealed how just deeply she loved the Japanese mecha anime franchise "Neon Genesis Evangelion." The idol explained that the show has many themes derived from Christianity, which is why she decided to binge-read The Bible. This is how obsessed she was with "Neon Genesis Evangelion."

She stated,

"I was so obsessed with 'Evangelion' that I read the entire Bible. The universe of 'Evangelion' is... This goes kind of deep, but... It has strong biblical references. So, I binge-read The Bible."

Julie and Haneul were both shocked by her statement, with the latter joking that putting "binge-reading" and "The Bible" in the same sentence sounded awkward. Fellow QWER member Chodan couldn't help but agree!

The clip of Magenta explaining why she read The Bible quickly went viral on social media platforms such as X (formerly Twitter). Many were shocked by the idol's dedication to reading The Bible, nothing that with around 1,200 pages, it would take around 65-75 hours to read.

Others joked that since "Neon Genesis Evangelion" is the anime, The Bible could be looked at as the original source: the manga. And like other otakus, she wanted to know all the lore of her favorite series! Many pointed out that it was normal to read The Bible but to binge-read it took a huge amount of dedication and obsession.
