Did Ice Spice Plagiarize (G)I-DLE 'Nxde' MV? Netizens Discuss

Ice Spice is being accused of plagiarizing a scene from (G)I-DLE's "Nxde" music video.

On July 26, 2024, American rapper Ice Spice released the music video for her latest musical release, "Oh Shhh...," which was made in collaboration with Travis Scott. While the video received praise from Ice Spice's fans, the K-pop community quickly called out similarities with (G)I-DLE's "Nxde" music video.

In particular, fans are calling out Ice Spice for copying one of Soyeon's solo scenes in the music video. During her rap portion, Soyeon is seen standing in a glass case in the middle of a museum, with people ogling her. The idol is seen wearing an intricate white outfit and posing while in the glass case, much to people's distaste.

Ice Spice's music video features a similar scene. In her music video, she is seen in a glass case in a museum, wearing a white two-piece outfit. As the museum spectators appear disgruntled by Ice Spice's vulgarity, the rapper poses and raps her verse.

People pointed out that besides the setting, outfit, and use of disgusted museum visitors, the editing and transitions bear similar elements. Both make use of a dramatic reveal to show the stars in the glass case, and the timing for when the focus is on the audience and on the glass case is nearly identical. A video putting the scenes side-by-side has gone viral on social media.

Reactions to the accusations have been mixed. Some believe this is blatant plagiarism due to the number of similarities, and demand that the director and editor of Ice Spice's "Oh Shhh..." music video speak up against the claims. However, some believe that the props and transitions used are not unique, and have been used in other work in the past.
