In an interview with Rolling Stone, Jisoo revealed that her parents allowed her to skip school on days she didn't feel like attending. She recalls mornings when her father noticed her pouting and sulking. Instead of forcing her to go to school, he would let her stay home and rest. She told Rolling Stone,

“Back then, I didn't think much of it, but there were days when I didn't want to go to school, and my parents would let me stay home. I’d wake up in the morning, frowning because I didn't want to go. My father would say, 'What's wrong? Why the long face?' I'd reply, 'Dad, I'm so tired, I just want to sleep.' And then my dad would respond, 'Okay. Then don't go.'”

This leniency, however, did not sit well with her teachers. Jisoo shared that the following day, her teacher confronted her with, "What do you plan to do with your life?" Despite this, Jisoo believes her parents were more lenient because she is the youngest of three children. She stated,

"It's not that my parents neglected me. I think they loved me very much, especially because I am the youngest. They were more comfortable letting me do what I wanted."

This parenting style stands in stark contrast to the strictness typically associated with Asian parents.

However, this relaxed upbringing posed challenges when Jisoo became a trainee at YG Entertainment. She had to adapt to the company's strict rules and regulations, which was a difficult adjustment. She revealed she had to teach herself to follow the rules, stating,

"It was tough when I joined YG Entertainment, where there were a lot of rules. I had to train myself to be patient and endure."

Information about Jisoo's parents has always intrigued fans. According to various sources, her father is either the CEO of RBW or an official at Mnet. This background is believed to have led to her early appearances in music videos of famous artists before her debut.
