(G)I-DLE Soyeon's Exclusive Contract Confirmed To End In November + Cube Discusses Idol's Renewal

(G)I-DLE Soyeon's exclusive contract with Cube Entertainment became a hot topic following her performance at the group's concert. In a new development, Cube has confirmed the conclusion of Soyeon's contract and its renewal discussions with the idol.

On August 7, Korean news outlet OSEN reported Cube's newest announcement regarding Soyeon's exclusive contract. According to the statement, the agency first addressed the (G)I-DLE leader's buzzworthy performance during the Seoul group's "iDOL" concert.

Cube acknowledged that the company has never given an official statement surrounding the issue, explicitly referring to Soyeon's profane rap verses that raised eyebrows on her contract status. One verse included remarks about her contract ending in November.

As the rapper stated in her performance, the agency confirmed that Soyeon's contract will conclude in November. However, Cube added that a contract renewal with the rapper is currently being discussed.

"Hello. This is Cube Entertainment.

Numerous articles regarding Soyeon's performance for the solo track "Is this bad b****** number?" are incorrect and we have never released an official statement on the matter.

As a result, we would like to apologize for the inconvenience we caused to our artist Soyeon, and to the fans who have shown love and concern for the members.

We are aware of the performance and lyrics for "Is this bad b****** number?" ahead of time. Additionally, the time mentioned (in the performance) is the time when Soyeon's contract ends, and we are discussing the contract renewal thoroughly.

We want to express our sincerest gratitude to all the fans who have always shown interest and support for (G)I-DLE."

Neverlands reacted to Cube's statement on social media platform X (Twitter).

On August 6, Soyeon addressed the issue in her Instagram Stories. The leader shared that her concerns would always be about making fans and her team happy.

However, Soyeon shared that while some projects don't receive positive reactions, she has never caused harm, lied, or hidden anything from Cube. Soyeon then shared that several rehearsals were done with the awareness and presence of the agency.

"I performed this in front of the company numerous times and we made this stage possible. In the past ten years, we have been through so much, and I don't have any hard feelings towards the company as stated in the media."
