Amid international fans declaring a boycott of FIFTY FIFTY's re-debut, K-Netz are showing a favorable response to the new lineup. But why is ILLIT being mentioned?
After the withdrawal of original FIFTY FIFTY members Saena, Sio, and Aran from the group, four new rookies were introduced to re-debut along with the remaining member Keena.
On August 9, its label ATTRAKT finally took off the veil of the new lineup with the comment, "HELLO FIFTY FIFTY." The quintet was seen enjoying a leisurely time riding a seesaw and running around the green field.
At the end of the video, the phrase, "Perfect balance at last,” then caught people’s attention.
The new members introduced include Moon Chanelle, Yewon, Hana, and a mystery member who is yet to be named.
Chanelle and Yewon were previously contestants on HYBE x JTBC's girl group audition program, "R U Next?," the same show that created ILLIT.
Meanwhile, Hana also made her name as a YouTuber in 2013 who ran the channel, "노래하는하람 (Singing Haram). In January, she closed the account to supposedly prepare for her idol debut.
Ahead of their debut on September 20, the team also announced their official fandom's new name, which is TWENY.

Unfortunately, international fans of the original FIFTY FIFTY, also called Hunnies weren't impressed by this re-organization, reminding K-pop enthusiasts how ATTRAKT mistreated the members which led to their physical and mental distress. As a result, they declared a boycott of the new group and encouraged other fans to do so as well.
Contrary to international fans' opinions, Korean netizens are showing positive thoughts about the new lineup, praising their visuals and skills. Looking at the members, they are guessing that they will be more popular than the original members.
In an online community, they are already rooting for their debut, and their cheers got louder after learning that Chanelle and Yewon almost debuted in ILLIT. K-Netz is already considering the two groups as "rivals," showing more support for FIFTY FIFTY.
Here are some of the comments:
- "Can I say this? It's kind of like that. ILLIT's victim group, haha."
- "Their visuals have definitely upgraded compared to the original lineup."
- "I hate ILLIT so much that I'm rooting for them. I hope they make a comeback around the same time."
- "Why did R U Next throw away such talented members and choose members like in ILLIT?"
- "It's good, right? If the song comes out to some extent, it will probably be a huge hit since there will be a lot of people who like it."
- "I'm looking forward to them."
- "They seem like they'll do okay live... unlike some groups, lol."
- "Oh wow, the youngest's visuals are so pretty. I guess the maknae needs to have a more mature feel to match their faces."
- "You all are so pretty. I hope you hit the jackpot."
- "It would be so funny if they made a comeback with ILLIT."
