In a new development, Korean media outlet DongA Ilbo has released CCTV footage related to Suga's drunk driving incident. The news immediately went viral online among fans, who reacted to the clip in social media and online threads.

Earlier on August 7, the Seoul Yongsan Police Station charged Suga with violating the Road Traffic Act after the idol rode an electric scooter while intoxicated and ultimately fell near his home.

A patrolling officer witnessed the incident and brought Suga to a station. There, the idol was tested, and he reportedly had a blood alcohol level of 0.227 percent.

The news immediately stormed the K-pop community, leading to a slew of debates on Suga's actions, fandom behavior, and media integrity. During the fiasco, JTBC also released its findings on Suga's incident, which many netizens deemed as inaccurate and false.

On August 14, DongA Ilbo released an exclusive article detailing Suga's incident, and a new clip showing the idol's fall.

According to the CCTV footage by DongA Ilbo, the incident happened around 11:10 p.m. on August 6. As three policemen were patrolling Nine One, Hannam, Suga failed to maintain his balance during a turn, catching the attention of the authorities.

DongA Ilbo reported that the rapper drank alcohol with his acquaintances near the Hannam Intersection around 9 p.m. Afterwards, Suga continued to drink at his private studio, before riding home on his scooter at 11 p.m.

The outlet noted that the studio was about 500 meters away from Nine One Hannam. It then reported that the previous CCTV footage of the incident did not involve Suga, since it showed the vehicle driving towards Namsan and not Suga's house, citing route differences.

In a forum, netizens expressed their thoughts on the updated clip and overall controversy. On X (Twitter), internet users called out JTBC for releasing a false video. Read their reactions below:

  • "It's a relief that he didn't lie, JTBC went for a dirty move."
  • "Given that high percentage of alcohol, I wish he just stayed in the studio and slept there instead."
  • "So JTBC's footage wasn't accurate, and it was indeed a 500-meter distance, right?"
  • "Driving on the sidewalk is just crazy."
  • "Why is he driving on the sidewalk drunk as hell."
  • "You are all disgraces. I'm glad it turned out that Yoongi wasn't lying, and I hope you all get hit with karma for all your slander."
  • "He didn't lie, and he fell in front of his house. He was 500 meters away. But of course, people won't care because they already made up their minds."
