Stray Kids Achieves Gold In RIAA With 4 Different Songs In US + Becomes 2nd K-pop Artist To Accomplish Feat

Stray Kids has achieved another historic feat with one of its iconic music releases. The achievement drew attention in the K-pop community, causing STAYs to express their congratulatory remarks to the fourth-gen leader.

Earlier on August 19, Stray Kids' 2021 song "Thunderous" officially received a gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The achievement was secured since the song has finally sold over 500,000 units in the United States.

"Thunderous" was released way back on August 23, 2021, and is the title track from Stray Kids' second studio album "NOEASY." The song has now followed previous songs "God's Menu," "MANIAC," and "Back Door," making it the group's fourth song to be certified gold by RIAA.

The single is also the sixth overall release from Stray Kids to receive a gold certification, which trailed their RIAA achievements with "★★★★★ (5-STAR)" and "ROCK-STAR" in 2023.

With this feat that was achieved with four different songs, Stray Kids has now become the second K-pop artist in RIAA history to receive gold certifications, following BTS.

In other news, Stray Kids' ninth mini album "ATE" entered Billboard's Top 200 Albums at No. 1. According to data platform Luminate, the album managed to gather 232,000 equivalent album units on the week ending of July 25.

The breakdown consisted of "ATE" having collected 218,00 traditional album sales, 13,000 streaming equivalent album units, 19.05 audio streams, and 1,000 track equivalent album units.

The achievement also led Stray Kids to become the first group to debut five different releases at No. 1 on Billboard 200. The fourth-gen act also became the overall second artist to claim the success, which was achieved by rapper DMX from 1998 to 2003.
