BABYMONSTER is one of fifth-gen's monster rookies, but netizens have doubts about their future due to the upcoming debut of MEOVV, THEBLACKLABEL's first-ever girl group.
On August 22, K-netz established a forum titled, "BABYMONSTER Is In Trouble."
The author expressed worry regarding BABYMONSTER's momentum and claimed that MEOVV has encapsulated more of the vibe as BLACKPINK's "sister group."
"It's going to be difficult for them to gain domestic fans since the current fourth-generation groups are still going strong. They would need to gain international fans, but it seems like the momentum that was supposed to go from BLACKPINK to Baemon is now shifting to MEOVV."
MEOVV suits that image way more. Even though Baemon was introduced as BLACKPINK's sister group, the match doesn't quite feel right.
On the other hand, this new group gives off that 'BP sister group' vibe. I can see them getting luxury brand ambassador deals easily because their vibe is just insane."
In the comments, K-Netz also claimed that BABYMONSTER's debut was dragged out for too long, causing the excitement to "fizzle out." Others discussed factors such as BABYMONSTER's star power and music quality. Read their comments below:
- "BaeMon dragged things out way too long from the start. The excitement just fizzled out."
- "MEOVV is Teddy's first girl group, and the synergy seems stronger, especially since they introduced Ella as the first member. But we'll have to wait and see when they debut."
- "MEOVV really does feel like BP's true junior group. I know BaeMon is talented, but they don't give off the same vibe BP did when they first debuted."
- "Plus, the group has too many members, their group name, music videos, and the songs are all tacky. I just feel bad for members like Ahyeon and Chiquita."
- "Yang Hyun Suk should get it together and put out good songs to really develop the group."
- "Honestly, BP's real sister group does seem to be this new group."
- "BaeMon just doesn't have much star power. Yang Hyunsuk's style has this old-fashioned vibe, and it makes me not want to listen to the music."
- "To be blunt, I haven't seen a single friend of mine add songs like 'BATTER UP' to their playlist."
However, fans on X (Twitter) disagreed with the claims and defended BABYMONSTER.
