On X, a list comprising over 200 K-pop idols, including minors, were revealed to be victims of deepfake sexual crimes in South Korea.
Earlier in August, South Korea garnered massive attention both domestically and internationally after the "New Nth Room" scandal exploded.
In particular, Korean men and students were caught sharing deepfake porn on Telegram chat rooms to humiliate women, female classmates, and family members. These videos were used to blackmail the victims to obtain actual sexual favors, abuse, and other heinous acts.
Deepfake has been a wide concern globally, especially in South Korea, wherein the sex offender digitally alters pornographic content using the faces or bodies of their victims.
In light of this horrible controversy, international K-pop fandoms took to X to spread awareness about related sexual crimes in Korea and released a list of deepfake porn sites targetting female idols.
In one of the websites listed, over 200+ female idols were revealed to be victims of R-19 Deepfake videos.
Looking at the sites, the videos of the victims were arranged by their names, alphabetically. Female idols from first- to fifth-gen were seen, and what is more disgusting is that even minors were included.
Some of the sites were updated daily, proving that these crimes were happening to this day.

When these lists were shared on X, K-pop fandoms were appalled and felt nauseous by the overwhelming videos and photos created for each member. NewJeans Minji alone has over 17,000 R-19 deepfake content of her on just one platform.
With this, the K-pop community holds hands to raise this alarming matter to their agencies, in an attempt to prevent worse scenarios and to take action against these sites as well.
Fandoms are currently mass emailing and trending hashtags to call the authorities' attention.
Meanwhile, while female idols were revealed to be victims of the R-19 deepfake, over 200 male idols were also said to be involved in the "New Nth Room" case.
This speculation arose after the media outlet Pitch One mentioned the original "nth room" in 2020, which involved politicians, celebrities, athletes, and more Korean men.
Taeil's sexual crime allegations also became a factor in why rumors spread that the idol could have been involved here, and more.
Later on, the Bangbae Police clarified that the scandal had nothing to do with Taeil. however, information about male idols being included in the "New Nth Room" is yet to be verified.
