[WATCH] Young K Gifted IU With Self-Written Song: 'I'd Like You to Sing It With Higher Notes'
IU couldn't find her words when DAY6 Young K gifted her a snippet of a new English song the male idol originally wrote for her to sing.
On Sept. 9th, JYP Entertainment's K-pop rock band DAY6 joined the YouTube web show, "IU's Palette," to promote their recent album, "Band Aid," released on the 2nd.
In the show, the team (Sungjin, Young K, Wonpil, and Dowoon) attempted to show their unique personalities apart from their bandmates by sharing respective TMIs of the month.
Among the members, vocalist Young K exuded a competitive spirit as he jumped out of his seat and pulled a piece of paper from his pocket.
The male singer handed it to IU and surprised her after he said:
"I wrote some chorus for a song."
Young K also started singing the lyrics with a melody he composed and IU, who was listening, was stunned, but later on, praised how good he was.
Just then, IU was left bewildered when the male singer subtly confessed that he was giving the song to her and shared a behind-the-scene story when he wrote it.

"I wrote that while imagining you singing it on stage. I'd like you to sing it with higher notes. I wrote them in English for your world tour."
IU clarified that she was really clueless and showed that it wasn't written on her script. It was then revealed that it was a surprise event prepared for her. The soloist gladly accepted the gift and excitedly attested Young K:
"I can imagine how it goes, from the code works. I would love to sing it with my voice."
Young K and IU briefly sang the song in harmony and the latter who was still amazed hinted at a possible collab by asking the DAY6 vocalist to work together with her to complete the song.
Upon the broadcast, UAENAs (IU fandom) and MyDays (DAY6 fans) were left in a frenzy, expressing their anticipation for the said future collab. Young K received praise for his thoughtfulness and genius-like abilities, while IU received applause for her genuine and appreciative reaction upon receiving the song.
In the comment section, fans wrote their desire for the track to be released soon, such as:
- "IU, please make sure to work with Young K. No matter when I will wait for you. I really want to hear it with IU's voice."
- "This combination is so good it makes me melt."
- "This is a video that really shows Young K's consideration. He really is a person who speaks beautifully all the time."
