Jungkook Was Supposed to Attend the 2024 Super Bowl Halftime Show With Usher — But  Had to Decline Invitation

BTS Jungkook almost became the first Asian soloist to attend the Super Bowl Halftime Show. Unfortunately, he had to reject the offer

In the music scene, one of the most coveted invitations among artists is from the Super Bowl. It is not just about the game, but it is also considered a cultural event in the US.

Aside from being the best stage to potentially attract more fans, appearance in the Super Bowl can also strengthen an artist's entry into the US market, the heart of pop culture.

Thus, when the news that Jungkook almost made a new record by being the first K-pop idol to attend this, ARMYs felt a bit of regret, yet a sense of pride for the male icon.

In a recent article released by The New Yorker, HYBE's Chairman Bang Si Hyuk sat down for an interview with the press and talked about its current groups such as BTS and KATSEYE.

Here, the media mentioned:

"...Usher, who joined Jungkook on a remix of 'Standing Next to You' — and invited him to perform it with him at the Super Bowl."

Sadly, Jungkook had no choice but to reject the offer since the 2024 Super Bowl Halftime was scheduled in February. In December 2023, he had to take a temporary hiatus to serve in the military.

Based on the news, the soloist was originally going to make an appearance with Usher to perform his multi-hit, "Standing Next to You."
On Dec. 1st last year, the two had a collab and dropped USHER's remix of the same song that made it to the 2nd spot of the Billboard 200.

Jungkook is only 27 years old and due to the so-called "BTS law," he can hold his military enlistment until he becomes 30 years old. If he decided to enlist three years later, he could have accepted the offer to appear at the Super Bowl.

With this, ARMYs felt emotional knowing that Jungkook sacrificed his budding solo career in the US in the meantime to enlist with his fellow BTS members and to shorten the gap of their group hiatus.
