Despite the NewJeans members' announcement that they are leaving ADOR, the label stated that their contract termination is invalid — insisting that they are still under the label.
On November 28, ADOR released its 26-page response to the certified mail initially sent by NewJeans. This came after the five-member team announced their contract termination through an emergency press conference in Gangnam, Seoul.
In the lengthy document, the label refused to accept NewJeans' departure and asserted that they are still their artists as they are yet to officially terminate its contract with them.
Ador revealed significant points explaining why the termination couldn't happen.
"Whenever an issue arose, ADOR collected the directors' opinions and tried to resolve the issue reasonably. This cannot be said to be a violation of the exclusive contract just because such efforts were not in the specific way the artist wanted or did not meet their subjective expectations."
The label continued:
"Many of the issues that the artists claim to be a violation of the exclusive contract were due to the words and actions of a third party, not ADOR."
During the emergency press con, NewJeans claimed that HYBE and ADOR violated their exclusive contract first and complained about "broken trust."
However, ADOR conveyed that this couldn't be a reason as the management faithfully carried out the group's activities despite the controversy.
"It is also regrettable that the reasons and basis for the issues claimed by the artist are in violation of important provisions of the exclusive contract. ADOR faithfully carried out important provisions of the exclusive contract, such as arranging and supporting entertainment activities, receiving compensation, settlement, and providing settlement materials."
ADOR further wrote:
'If we look at it purely from a legal standpoint, it is questionable whether ADOR committed a violation that warrants the termination of the exclusive contract or whether the artist's request for corrective action this time is a request premised on the termination of the exclusive contract as claimed by the artist."
