NCT's Mark Lee, known for his playful side, has followed in the footsteps of fellow trickster Timothée Chalamet by attending his own lookalike contest.

The quintessential NCT member, who belongs to all three of the group's subunits -- including NCT U, NCT 127, and NCT Dream -- sparked speculation from fans when he posted about the event on Instagram.

The idol shared a photo of the poster advertising the event, which had been rescheduled from December 7 at 1:27 PM as a tribute to NCT 127, along with three crying emojis.

The new date on December 13 honored the NCT 127 tradition with its 1:27 PM time in New York City's Washington Square Park.

The post led to fan speculation on whether or not Mark would show up to the event, a la Timothée, who turned up to his own lookalike contest, also held in Washington Square Park, in October.

NCTzens, fans of NCT, added that while the singer had a performance for the annual Jingle Ball at Madison Square Garden at 7 PM, he had plenty of time to get to the contest with room to spare.

Speculators were vindicated when Mark did, in fact, turn up at the packed event, flanked by bodyguards on either side.

While Timothée's surprise appearance in October has spurred many copycat contests for various celebrities across the country (and even internationally), very few have resulted in the celebrity in question turning up.

Among countless lookalike competitions, including ones for the cast from Challengers, The Bear star Jeremy Allen White, and even political figure Jack Schlossberg, only a few of the stars have made an appearance (aside from Timothée, the shortlist also includes Glen Powell).
