Various Korean celebrities, including comedian Park Na Rae, actor Im Si Wan, Lovelyz's member Jin, and singer DinDin made donations to aid the families of victims affected by the Jeju Air flight crash.

Comedian Park Na Rae's representatives reported that she'd personally contacted the local government to deliver her donation. The exact amount has not been disclosed at Park's request.

The Community Chest of Korea confirmed Park's gift.

"I extend my deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved families grieving the loss of their loved ones," said Park.

"I also sincerely thank everyone working tirelessly at the scene despite the harsh weather."

The funds will be used for various support efforts, including memorial services for the victims, based on input from families, government agencies, and experts.

Actor Im Si Wan of Squid Game 2 also contributed financially to the victims' families. The Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association confirmed his contribution.

"To the bereaved families who have lost loved ones in an unforeseen tragedy, I offer my deepest condolences and prayers," Im said.

Lovelyz member Jin also joined the relief efforts.

"I learned about the heartbreaking news through the media, and it left me devastated. I extend my condolences to the victims and their families," she said.

"I plan to observe a period of mourning and hope others can join in supporting this cause, no matter how small the contribution."

Singer DinDin donated ten million won (approximately $6,800) to the Korean Red Cross, expressing his sympathies to the impacted families.

"Every year, I write messages of hope and gratitude to mark the end of the year. This year, however, my heart is heavy," he said.

"I hope this contribution can provide even the slightest bit of help as the recovery process will take time. I pray for the souls of the deceased and extend my deepest sympathies to their families."

The plane crash, which departed from Bangkok and attempted to land at Muan International Airport, took the lives of 179 people and injured two out of the total 181 passengers on board, as reported by AP.

South Korea has announced a national period of mourning to honor the victims, which commenced on December 29 and ends on January 4.

"To join the nation in mourning, the live broadcast of the '2024 MBC Drama Awards' originally scheduled for December 30th at 8:40 PM has been canceled and will be replaced with a pre-recorded broadcast," MBC said.

"We pray for the souls of the victims and once again extend our deepest sympathies to the bereaved families."
