Celebrities across Korea expressed their condolences to the victims of the Jeju Air crash, one of the deadliest incidents in the country's history in decades.

The plane crash, which occurred on December 29, took place at Muan International Airport as the Boeing 747 skidded down a runway on its belly before crashing into a fence, erupting in flames upon collision.

Acting President Choi Sang-mok of South Korea declared Muan County a special disaster area and initiated a period of national mourning that will continue until January 4.

G-Dragon of Big Bang posted an image of a condolence flower on his Instagram account on Sunday, to honor the 179 deceased victims, out of a total of 181 passengers. Only two passengers survived the crash.

Singer Kim Jang Hoon canceled his concert set to take place in Suncheon, South Jeolla, following news of the crash.

"It is not easy for the performer and the organizers to call off concerts or events like this," Kim wrote in a social media post on Monday.

"I thank the organizers for complying with my requests despite the expected financial damage and complaints from the customers."

Red Velvet's Wendy shared her condolences on the December 30 broadcast of SBS Power FM's Wendy's Youngstreet.

"When we think of, comfort, and take care of the people around us, we call it 'caring for them,'" she said.

"Now is the time when we must use our hearts without holding back. If we use our whole heart to comfort people who are difficult to express in words, our sincerity will reach them. The fortunate thing is that our hearts grow the more we use them, so it's okay to use them as much as we want," she continued.

"I will also do my best to comfort you with all my heart. I pray that the deceased may rest in peace. I would like to convey my condolences to the bereaved family. I think the best I can do today is to spend time saying kind words and offering comfort to many people. I would like to convey my condolences to the bereaved families once again."

Girl group Jeanz, formerly NewJeans, also honored the victims amid scheduled appearances in Japan for the 66th Shining! Japan Record Awards.

The girls shared a photo of themselves on their self-managed "jeanzforfree" Instagram account, donning black ribbons on the collars of their white stage outfits as a tribute to the victims.

"In sincere condolences," they wrote.
