KAI is an artist of a new generation with a story unlike any other. Born in Colombia, he took a bold step after high school, applying for a highly competitive South Korean government scholarship to study at Seoul National University, the country's most prestigious institution. Out of 2,000 applicants, only two were selected—KAI was one of them. This life-changing opportunity pushed him to work harder, embrace challenges, and constantly strive for new heights.
His first year in Korea was dedicated to mastering the language, and in the following years, he pursued a degree in architecture. During this time, Korean culture left a profound impact on him—not just as a student, but as a person. Today, KAI considers South Korea one of his homelands.
Graduating with honors, he built a successful career as an architect before embarking on a journey around the world, immersing himself in different countries and cultures.
The Moment Music Found Him
KAI's musical journey began unexpectedly in Miami. "One day, someone heard me singing and said, 'You need to be a superstar.' I had never even considered that I had a voice, let alone that music was inside me, until I heard those words," he recalls.
That spark stayed with him. During a meditation session, a vivid image appeared in his mind—he saw himself in a recording studio surrounded by music. "Over time, I kept thinking about those words, and life kept introducing me to incredible people—producers, studio owners, and musicians. Then, one night at 3 AM, I woke up, grabbed a notebook, and wrote my first song. The words just poured out in both Korean and English, as if something was guiding me."
From that moment, everything clicked. The studio became his sanctuary. "When I stand in front of the microphone and sing, I feel like I'm flying," he says. "And deep down, I always knew I was meant to do this."
The Story Behind "OOH-AH"
KAI's debut single is a tribute to youthful energy and first love. In Korean, "OOH-AH" translates to "elegance." "She was so elegant, and I was completely in love," he shares. "Those memories became a part of me, and they still give me energy to this day. I wanted to share that feeling with the world through music. I think this track turned out to be really cool and infectious."
But KAI isn't just another artist chasing trends. He stands apart as an independent musician, choosing to navigate the industry on his own terms without the backing of major labels. He sees music as pure self-expression—free from the industry pressures.
