Musician JJ Cale Dies From Heart Attack: [VIDEO] 'After Midnight,' 'Breeze' Writer's Legacy Was Behind Closed Doors For Eric Clapton And Lynyrd Skynyrd

Musician JJ Cale dies from a heart attack at 74-years-old on Friday night at Scripps Hospital in La Jolla, Calif.

Mike Kappus, the manager of JJ Cale reported the news that the songwriter, producer, singer, guitarist and all-around musician who created hits for names like Eric Clapton, Lynyrd Skynyrd and others died Friday night.

Some of the hits JJ Cale wrote over the years were "After Midnight" and "Cocaine" were hits he wrote for Eric Clapton. He also wrote "Breeze" for Lynyrd Skynyrd. The musician dies as somebody behind the scenes of what goes into making good music.

"No, it doesn't bother me," Cale said with a laugh in an interview posted on his website about not being known for the hits he help create. "What's really nice is when you get a check in the mail."

Kappus said that Cale will indeed be missed by many.

"JJ Cale was loved by fans worldwide for his completely unpretentious and beautiful music," Mike Kappus, president of the Rosebud Agency told CNN. "He was loved even more dearly by all those he came in contact with as the most real and down-to-earth person we all knew."

Cale won a Grammy Award in 2006 with Clapton for the album, "The Road to Escondido.

"He was incredibly humble and avoided the spotlight at all costs but will be missed by anyone touched by him directly or indirectly," Kappus said. "Luckily, his music lives on."
