FDA Warns Customers Of Steroids In Vitamin Product Healthy Life Chemistry: Company Yet To Comment On What Customers Say Causes Fatigue, Liver, Thyroid Problems With Hospital Visits

FDA warns of steroids with vitamin B supplement for customers that may have purchased the product.

According to a preliminary lab test, Healthy Life Chemistry by Purity First B-50, contains methasterone, which a controlled substance that is an anabolic steroid found in the vitamin that the FDA is now warning customers about.

"Products marketed as a vitamin but which contain undisclosed steroids pose a real danger to consumers and are illegal," Howard Sklamberg, director of the FDA's compliance office warns customers to CNN.

There were 29 complaints about the Healthy Life vitamin to regulators. Fatigue was one of the complaints, as well as muscle pain, cramps, liver and thyroid problems, according to the FDA. The product is manufactured by New-York based Mira Health Products Ltd is sold online and in stores

The FDA is the Food and Drug Administration and is an agency of the United States Department of Health and Human Services, which is one of the U.S. federal executive departments.

The FDA is responsible for protecting and promoting public health through the regulation and supervision of food safety, tobacco products, dietary supplements, prescription and over-the-counter pharmaceutical drugs (medications), vaccines, biopharmaceuticals, blood transfusions, medical devices, electromagnetic radiation emitting devices (ERED), and veterinary products.

Some patients were hospitalized from the vitamin known as Healthy Life Chemistry. Women were also reported unusual hair growth and missed menstruation, and men reported impotence and low testosterone.

Anyone who used the product and has symptoms should seek medical care and report the case to the FDA, regulators said of the product from the company that yet to release a statement regarding the issue.
