After Monday, August 5 there'll be no guarantee that pre-ordering a PlayStation 4 will get you one before Christmas in the UK, that's according to unnamed retailers speaking to CVG, Metro UK reports.

Sony has not said anything official on the subject, but the insiders claim that the unofficial deadline will affect the whole of the UK and likely Europe and Australasia as well, Metro UK also reports.

Release date rumors also flared when Sony came up with a teaser ad that carries the image of a solar eclipse while also carrying the words 'When Worlds Collide' that gives gamers hope of an early release. 

But Playstation 4 release date speculation is also growing after Toys R Us' United Kingdom website released a post for the next-generation console with a December 13 availability date, leaving Sony fans wondering if it will be released later than expected.

However, Sony has confirmed a press conference at Gamescom, an annual gaming and entertainment fair in Germany that takes place in August, where the developer is likely to reveal the release date of the Playstation 4.

Several release date rumors surrounding Sony's Playstation 4 swirled after the company mentioned that it would make its console available in the "Holiday 2013" season. But now sources say they will publicize the Playstation 4 release date at one of the largest gaming events in the world.

"Gamescom usually attracts well over 270,000 people each year so it would make sense for Sony to announce something important at such a big event," reads an article published by Just Push Start, explaining why the venue would be an ideal place for Sony to announce the date.
