‘Vampire Diaries’ Season 5 Episode 1 Air Date And Title Revealed: ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’

According to Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Julie Plec just revealed the title of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 5, Episode 1, and it reminds us all of Sarah Michelle Geller. The title is "I Know What You Did Last Summer," and refers to the first episode taking place in Mystic Falls a few months after the events which occurred in season four's finale.

"It's a time jump," Plec told Entertainment Weekly. "We found a stylized way to show the audience how things went over the summer, what everybody was up to."

Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Caroline (Candice Accola) will head off to college, leaving Damon (Ian Somerhalder) in Mystic Falls as Stefan (Paul Wesley) continues his eternal struggle underwater trapped in a chest at the bottom of a lake.

Julie also talked about the new relationship between Elena and Damon, and that they will face conflicts "in which one is keeping a secret from another trying not to hurt their feelings, trying to make them happy, little things that any normal couple would fight about and then hopefully make up over."

She adds, "The biggest hurdles in their relationship come from external sources, people, ideas, notions that are trying to say they're not supposed to be together. It's really going to be more about them fighting to prove that they should be together and it's okay."

"The Vampire Diaries" season five will premiere with episode 1 on a different date than originally announced. The CW will now push up the premiere of season 5 of "Vampire Diaries" to the first week of October.

The network announced that "The Vampire Diaries" premiere is being moved up by a week, to Thursday, October 3 at 8/7c.

According to IBTimes, bumping up the premiere date is a way for the network to allow "additional exposure and time to launch."
