Biggest K-Pop News Of July - Which Stars Made The Headlines?

July was an incredibly busy month for K-Pop. Many of out favorite groups made impressive comebacks and a few new faces joined the scene.

It was also a month of some pretty major news stories. In case you missed out on the major headlines of the month, here is a recap of all you need to know.

The biggest, and maybe most disappointing scandal of the month involved celebrity soldiers enlisted in their mandatory military service.

Singer Se7en and rapper Sangchu were caught visiting an after-hours massage parlor while on active duty causing a huge uproar among fans and netizens.

Both were sentenced to ten days in military prison for their behavior and several other celebrities serving in the military were also punished with time in jail for other minor offenses such as having a cell phone.

The scandals forced the Department of Defense to reconsider the celebrity service unit, ultimately deciding to disband it altogether.

In other military news, veteran pop icon Rain finished up his army service this month. In the past several weeks the singer had come under suspicion for breaking rules regarding his vacation time during his enlistment, but in the end, he was cleared of all charges and was honorably discharged from the service as planned.

On a much lighter note, the ladies of Girls' Generation continue to gain recognition in the United States.

Members Tiffany, Taeyeon, and Sunny were invited to sing the national anthem at the LA Dodgers baseball game against the Cincinnati Reds on July 28 as part of the 'Korea Day' festivities.

The popular idols were there to support Korean players Ryu Hyun Jin and Choo Shin Soo.

On the business side of the Korean entertainment industry, the Fair Trade Commission issued a sanction against SM Entertainment and the Korean Federation of Pop Culture and Art Industry (KFPCAI) for interfering with pop trio JYJ's promotional activities.

Since the three former members of TVXQ split from the label, they have had some difficulties promoting themselves freely in South Korea. Many suspected SM Entertainment was behind it all, applying pressure to the music distributers and broadcasters.

After looking into the matter for quite some time, the FTC ruled that both SM and the KFPCAI have been actively interfering with JYJ's activities and ordered them both to stop doing so immediately.

August is going to be another big month for K-Pop with a lot of major events, concerts, and comebacks - and of course, more things happening in the United States!
