Busker Busker Kim Hyung Tae Under Attack For His Internet Language

Busker Busker's Kim Hyung Tae has raised some concerns about some language he has used online recently.

In particular, his use of the word 'woonji' has upset many people for it's Ilbe context.

Ilbe is a conservative online community in South Korea (an abbreviation that translates to 'daily best') that has a rather nasty reputation for organized trolling on the country's major portal sites like Naver and Nate.

There are certain words and phrases used frequently by Ilbe users in their online attacks and Kim Hyung Tae seems to have gotten himself into a bit of a jam after using a few of them online.

In two separate incidents the Busker Busker member used Ilbe words. He tweeted 'jongbeom' and also posted 'woonji' on DC Insider, a popular Korean forum site.

'Jongbeom' is a word that references a famous Korean baseball player Lee Jong Beom who is often a point of ridicule for Ilbe users who have deemed him useless. His name is therefore used as a negative slang term for something lacking presence or worthless.

Even if many fans and internet users could look the other way for the use of 'jongbeom,' 'woonji' has a much more serious context.

The term expresses Ilbe ridicule of the late Korean president Noh Moo Hyun and is a way to poke fun at his unfortunate suicide in 2009.

Busker Busker fans are now worried that Kim Hyung Tae has just dug a grave for his own career.

The situation is reminiscent of the recent scandal involving girl group Crayon Pop and their use of Ilbe words.

The controversy caused such an uproar that the group lost their endorsements, had to issue several public apologies, and still have a very bad reputation among the Korean people.

We will have to wait and see if the same is true for Kim Hyung Tae and Busker Busker.
