Jim Ross Retires From WWE: Reportedly Fired, Told To Retire To Avoid Uproar By Fans Possibly Thanks To WWE2K13 Event Day Before Summerslam

Jim Ross retires from WWE: New report said that it was a way of letting the commentator go without any backlash because of what took place the day before Summerslam.

During the WWE 2K14 videogame event that took place the night before Summerslam in Los Angeles, Jim Ross referred to Grey Goose maybe too much in the minds of the front office, which could have lead to Good Ole J.R. to retire from the company.

Ric Flair took control of the festivities for the media event that was designed to promote the new WWE videogame and its "30 Years of Wrestlemania" theme instead turned into the Flair show with stories about how he turned John Cena into a drinker and more, according to PW Insider.

Where Jim Ross gets blame is possibly in the mind of the WWE is that Ross did not take control of the situation. He referred to Grey Goose being the sponsor of the event and how the script was lost.

According to one high-up source within 2K Sports, they were not upset in the least with Flair's antics and if anything were "entertained by the spectacle of it."

Ross had been working as a talent scout and helping with WWE developmental. He had also, from time to time, laid out commentary for WWE licensed products, such as DVDs and videogames, though he hasn't been a full-time commentator for a few years now.

PW Insider said that Vince McMahon was the one who made the decision to fire Jim Ross or make him retire. This would mark the third time Ross was let go by the company.

"The feedback I've received re: my @WWE retirement has been amazing. Heartfelt thanks to all. I'm ready 4 the next adventure. Stay tuned!" Jim Ross tweeted Wednesday.

As far as Flair goes, the report is that the WWE told him that they can no longer work with him with the way that he carried himself. Flair hasn't made a public appearance since.
