Tablet PC Price: Market Firm Says Tablets Will Outsell PC's By The End Of The Year

Last year, a lot of analysts predicted that 2013 will be the year of the tablet, and as of this moment, it really is. And while the average tablet PC price continues to become affordable, the demand and sales for these devices will continue to rise.

According to the International Data Corporation (IDC), tablet shipments and sales will continue to surpass PC shipmens and sales until the end of the year. But that domination will not be limited to 2013, or even next year. The IDC says tablets will continue to outsell PC devices on an annual basis until 2015.

IDC added that by that time, the number of tablets sold would reach above 2 billion units, amounting to about $735 billion.

Meanwhile, IDC also mentioned that smartphones will continue its steady rise in the market, with its current 65.1 percent market share to reach 70.5 percent by 2017.

To close, IDC stated that smartphone sales and shipments around the globe will go up by up to 71.1 percent from 2013 to 2017, which accounts for more than 1.73 billion units.

The projected significant increase is due to the emergence and increasing popularity of low-cost Android devices, especially in Asia.
