Marvel Moves Up Ant-Man To Follow Avengers Age Of Ultron: Competition With Batman VS Superman Set

As the 2015 film schedule heats up, several comic book films will go head-to-head, specifically "Ant-Man" and "Batman Vs. Superman."

Recently, due to the expected delay of the next "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie, Marvel-Disney has decided to push up the "Ant-Man" movie to July 31.

And while some are simply seeing it as an internal move to save their 2015 release schedule, it is by no means an accident that "Ant-Man" is being pushed up right behind "Batman Vs. Superman."

With a release date of July 17, "Batman Vs. Superman" will be competing directly with "Ant-Man," and the Marvel vs. DC rivalry will continue.

However, the cache for "Ant-Man," at least compared to the recent buzz created by the casting choice of Batman in "Batman Vs. Superman," is hardly comparable, at least for now.

But one thing Forbes contributor Mark Hughes recognizes is one weapon Marvel has in 2015: "The Avengers: Age of Ultron."

"Since 'The Avengers: Age of Ultron' is almost surely going to be a huge blockbuster, the coattails could help boost Ant-Man significantly more the closer its proximity to the Avengers sequel. It will be heavily marketed as part of the Marvel and Avengers branding to pound that linkage into everyone's minds," writes Hughes in the article.

"The link's already there, of course, but if there's also some literal story linkage involved - which would be a very smart move, obviously, even if it's just a small amount to allow the ads to mention the direct story link - then releasing it right on the heels of 'The Avengers: Age of Ultron' might let 'Ant-Man' capitalize substantially on that bigger film's likely success."

So what do you think? Will "Ant-Man" compete with "Batman Vs. Superman?"
