Sara Gilbert and Linda Perry are engaged, but she wasn't always open about being gay. Sara Gilbert said she realized she was a lesbian after a make-out session with actor Johnny Galecki. Years later, the two actors are still close enough for Galecki to say he would still be happy to hold her hand.

Sara Gilbert shared her revelation on Thursday’s “The Talk,” which has been showing the co-hosts dished on their most well-kept secrets. Sharon Osbourne admitted she had a fling with Jay Leno when she was 25. Aisha Tyler talked about her problems with getting pregnant. Julie Chen revealed how she had eye surgery to look more Western.

Sara Gilbert's share of the week was that she was dating Johnny Galecki, who played her boyfriend David on the show "Roseanne."

Sara Gilbert said "I thought he was super cute and had a total crush on him and we started dating and he would come over and we would make out and then I would start to get depressed."

Johnny Galecki is now on the geek hit “The Big Bang Theory.” Sara Gilbert said Galecki admitted it made him feel and and took it personally. Gilbert explained to her co-star and lover that it wasn’t him, it was her sexuality. Sara Gilbert was dealing with the realization that she was a lesbian.

Sara Gilbert kept her sexuality to herself and after she started dating a woman who was 18 years older than she was. And who was also in the public eye, the songwriter and producer Linda Perry.

Sara Gilbert said "It was something people could have found out about and Johnny, like, no one knew at the show, for years, and Johnny held the secret the whole time. And I just felt so scared if it came out, what could happen. Could I lose my career? Would I ever be able to play a straight role again?"

It was obvious that the topic made Sara Gilbert emotional. She said she is “thrilled” being who she is and where she is. But a part of Sara Gilbert is still frightened about being different.

Johnny Galecki and Sara Gilbert are still close and Gilbert called Galecki first before revealing their relationship on the show. Gilbert said she told Galecki "The story sort of starts with you and you know I've got to say that I made out with you and got depressed, which is kind of a bummer. And he was like 'Yeah, no, of course' and 'I love you' and 'I think it's really important' and 'I'm so proud of you," and he said, you know, if you want I'll be there and I'll hold your hand. I just thought that was so sweet, and this story really makes Johnny look good."
