‘Insidious: Chapter 2’ Raked More Than $40 Million, Director James Wan To Return For Another Sequel?

The second part of the horror flick 'Insidious' did not scare people away from the cinema as the film earned more than $40 million in its debut weekend.

'Insidious: Chapter 2' still revolves around the life of two concerned parents with a child who appears to be haunted with something unearthly. The film was released on Friday the 13th which immediately made it the official movie with the highest opening day earning for the month of September.

The sequel even earned nearly quadruple than the first movie which was released in 2010. Crime comedy 'The Family' bagged the second place after earning $14 million whereas 'Riddick' placed third.

With its staggering earnings, producer Jason Blum is urging horror director James Wan to create a third sequel. Since the movie's overall production cost is only $5 million, producers are definitely excited for another sequel. Even the producer of 'The Paranormal Activity' wants to enlist Wan in the production of the third installment of the horror film.

However, Wan wants to take a break from horror flicks: "I'm going to go on record and say I am finished with the horror genre. 'Conjuring' and 'Insidious 2′ are my two last scary movies. I spent the last ten years of my life doing this. It's time for a change."

Wan is reportedly working for the Fast and Furious 7.
