iPad Mini 2 Release Date: 5 Things You Should Know About The Next Generation iPad Mini

For the past couple of years, Apple has been sticking to its usual schedules when it comes to product launches with a difference of just several weeks or even days. It seems it will also do the same for its iPad Mini 2 release date.

The iPhone 5 was launched Sept. 12 last year, while its successors were unveiled Sept. 10, last week. The Cupertino company will definitely follow the trend, especially when it is about to unveil two of its most profitable devices - the iPad 5 and the iPad Mini 2.

In case you are on the lookout for these devices, particularly the iPad Mini 2, here are five things you should know:

1. New processor

The new iPhone 5S has Apple's newest A7 chip running at 64-bit, a first for a smartphone. For a tablet like the iPad Mini 2, the bump in processor will make perfect sense.

2. Rumored Retina display

The last iPad Mini was near perfection except for two features, one of which is the lack of a Retina display. This year, rumor has it that the next generation iPad Mini 2 will finally get the display Apple is most famous of.

3. No microSD card support

This is the other feature lacking in the last edition of the iPad Mini, and it looks like external storage is still not on the specifications that will be present for this edition. Still, there's iCloud in case you run out of memory.

4. Similar but possibly 'golden' design

The iPad mini's design was highly praised by both Apple and non-Apple fans, and it seems the company will move into that direction when it comes to design. In fact, the upcoming iPad 5 might just come in a larger but similar frame. However, there are reports that it will don the same champagne gold color of the iPhone 5S.

5. Higher price

Another great feature of the first generation iPad mini is its 'steal' price. However, it may add a few dozen dollars for the better display, and fasfter processor. On the other hand, its predecessor will surely get a price cut, perfect for consumers who can only invest too much in gadgets.

The iPad Mini 2, iPad 5 and a rumored iTV may be announced some time in October.
