Transformers 4 Mark Wahlberg Busy Filming In Chicago; Receives High School Diploma At 42

Transformers 4 star Mark Wahlberg is busy working on his current project under director Michael Bay.  Since August, Chicago had been host to the cast and crew of "Transformers: The Age of Extinction", of which the actor plays lead.

According to the latest entry in Transformers Live Action Movie Blog posted last Sept. 14, "Today Transformers 4 filmed on Chicago's Roosevelt Road that involved a helicopter filming Mark Wahlberg and Jack Reynor running out of Bumblebee (2014 Camaro) as extras ran behind them.  Also on the set was the Stingray, Hound and nearby was white camaro."

Wahlberg plays Cade in the movie, an auto mechanic, single father to Tessa (Nicola Peltz), and Bumblebee's new best friend.  "Sam Witwicky" Shia LaBoeuf and the other (human) cast members in the previous three films won't be reprising their roles in this instalment.

"This movie takes place exactly 4 years after the war in Chicago," Michael Bay wrote in his website.  "The story makes a very natural transition, and reason as to why we have a whole new cast."

He added, "This Transformers will feel very different than the last three. We are embarking on a new trilogy."

But even while Wahlberg had been busy with many projects this past year, he still made time for his studies.  Just recently, the 42-year old actor received his high school diploma, an accomplishment that he is mighty proud of.

In an article he wrote, posted in Huffington Post, he said, "I was fortunate to find out I could attend high school online. For almost a year, I've been taking classes and studying any chance I could get - on the set, traveling for work and at home. It has been both humbling and challenging, but I'm happy to report that I am officially a high school graduate, having received my diploma this summer."

Not only does this offer the actor great satisfaction, but it also serves to inspire others to aim for the same.  Through his charity, Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation, he has partnered with organizations such as the Taco Bell Foundation for Teens, so he can help make a difference.

He wrote, "Their Graduate for Más program empowers teens to make a personal commitment to graduate high school while providing the tools, support and community that high school students need to stay on track - resources I wish I had access to as a teen."
