The Expendables 3 Cast Kelsey Grammer Takes Role Rumored For Nicholas Cage; ‘Frasier’ Also in ‘Transformers 4’

Kelsey Grammer of "Frasier" is the latest addition to the humongous 'Expendables 3' Cast. It was rumored that the role he assumed was originally reserved for Nicholas Cage. Grammer also appears in "Transformers 4."

Grammer will play a mercenary named (or code-named) Bonaparte. He will join the cast that already has the likes of Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, , Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, Kellan Lutz, MMA star Ronda Rousey, Victor Ortiz.

The ensemble action film explodes in theaters on August 14, 2015.

Meanwhile, Grammer also joins "Transformers: Age Of Extinction." The extinction angle has already hinted at the Dinobots. It's still directed by Michael Bay, who has exploited the explosive action genre.

Grammer's sophisticated alter-ego, Frasier Crane, would probably not be favorable with Michael Bay's style. The actor told Empire that Bay's mass-appeal filmmaking style may not suit Frasier's more refined tastes.

"I think he might find it offensive in some ways, but there was always a bit of Frasier that wasn't completely a snob," he said.

"He always liked blowing up things, too, if he could! When he would discover his inner child, he would revel in it, and I think Transformers is one of those things."

"I don't know if Michael has seen Frasier. He's been very respectful and funny. He's a terrific guy and quite a filmmaker.

"He just said to me the other day, 'You're Kelsey Grammer - you can do whatever you want to do'. So I guess he at least has some acquaintance with my work."

"Transformers: Age of Extinction" has a July 2014 playdate.  Thus, you can call next year "The Summer of Grammer."
