Microsoft Surface 2 Launch Date: Windows RT 8.1 Tablet Will Be Released On Sept. 23, Specs Include 8GB RAM, Full HD Display, Nvidia Tegra 4 Processor

Microsoft Surface 2 launch date is expected to be on September 23. Phonesreview.co.uk reported that the tech giant’s invitation to the press for a Sept. 23 event is practically a move announcing the release date of their flagship tablet. The Redmond tech giant is not expected to launch anything else other than the tablet and Windows 8.1.

Phonesreview.co.uk stated that the biggest speculations point to a total overhaul in hardware to put in more powerful processors backed by 8GB of RAM. It is expected to run the new Windows 8.1. Other speculations include Full HD display, that will officially welcome the Windows-powered tablets to be part of what CNET calls the “high-resolution club.”

“What we’re seeing is that it’s 1920x1080,” Richard Shim of DisplaySearch told CNET.

The CNET article also said that other rumored specs include Nvidi Tegra 4 Processor and a two-step stlye kickstand. The tech news site reported that the it will have 4GB of memory, but Phonesreview.co.uk is pointing to an 8GB RAM.

After the launch of the first two Microsoft tablet PCs, there were no extraordinary applauses from both reviewers and consumers. Their sales barely crossed breakeven.

According to Phonesreview.co.uk, the company will be holding the press event in New York City. The event set to begin at 1030am New York time might very well mark the end of the Microsoft Surface Pro as well as the Surface RT that did not do well with consumers. They both ran on a version of Windows 8 that had been stripped down to reduce spec requirements.

With all this said and done, Phonesreview.co.uk continues on to state that Microsoft is counting on the Microsoft Surface 2 to help make up for the loss dealt from the unsold Surface RT.
