Google Glass price, release date and specs are all up in the air for debate, with many users still speculating on what the final price is and the actual release will be. The Google XE monthly updates is also a sign that the highly touted AR lens is still undergoing changes in terms of features.

But many of the device’s early users are already putting their developer’s version of Google Glass to use. A digital creative agency in New Haven, Conn. Used Google Glass to showcase what it’s like for a football player to play the game – from his point of view.

The New Haven register reports that Digital Surgeons got one of the 8,000 pairs of Google Glass as part of the tech giant’s “Explorer” program. In the closing stages of Yale’s football practice, Bulldogs senior Henry Furman wore Google Glass to capture the game through the eyes of quarterback, the Connecticut newspaper reports.

“It’s a great thing for the kids to see and to be part of something like that,” Yale coach Tony Reno told the New Haven Register.

“And it’s a great opportunity for the football program. There are only 8,000 in the world.”

The staff of Digital Surgeons, David Salinas and Alex Forman brainstormed with Yale athletics director of marketing and licensing Pat O’ Neil on how best to use the wearable device through the Yale’s sports groups. The application last Tuesday would be the first of many.

“We thought how cool would it be to do a Google Hangout and bring the fans into the game,” Salinas said, speaking with the New Haven Register.

“Google said explore and that’s what we’re here to do. We think it’s the perfect pair for Yale’s culture, intelligence and athletics.”

According to the New Havens Register, the use of helmet cams has been applied in sports in the past. It is valuable to note that GoPro camera has allowed many athletes and daredevils to capture their games and adventures in a first-person setting.
