'Vampire Diaries' Season 5 Spoilers: Will Katherine And Matt Fall In Love?

"The Vampire Diaries" season 5 has few humans left in its cast, but come season 5 one more human will be added to the list: Katherine. Will her new love interest be Matt Donovan? Spoiler alert!

In the season 4 finale of "The Vampire Diaries," Katherine (Nina Dobrev) became human after 500 years of vampirism, Wetpaint reports.

Judging by the look on her face when Elena shoved the cure down her throat, Katherine is not pleased with her new-found mortality.

However, Wetpaint has five reasons why human Katherine may be better than vampire Katherine.

One of the reasons include the fact that there aren't many humans left in Mystic Falls or in the cast of "The Vampire Diaries" - most of our favorite characters have discovered or turned into vampires/werewolves/witches. So it would be nice to have a human perspective once in awhile in season 5.

So who else is human? One notable character is Matt Donovan (Zach Roerig), who is rumored to have a big role in the upcoming season, Wetpaint reports. Does this role have something to do with fellow now-human Katherine?

According to TVLine, "[Matt is] not a peripheral character this season," executive producer Caroline Dries teased. "He really has an interesting, intriguing story line this year. We are introduced to it briefly in the season premiere."

The premiere of "The Vampire Diaries" season 5 airs October 3rd, and maybe then we will see if Matt and Katherine will have story lines that tie together, and perhaps even suggest a little human lovin'.

Let's not forget that Rebekah, Matt's former on-and-off love interest, will be moving off the show and onto the spin-off series, "The Originals," leaving Matt single and ready to mingle!
