Tupac Shakur has become rap's icon after his death. Now, the most authoritative biography will actually be made. MTV takes a look at the best black actors today and speculate on their chances to land the career defining role.

Recently, there have been many young black actors coming out of the woodwork. This is not just a testament to their talent, but also that Hollywood has been churning out movies with meaty roles for Afro-Americans. It is no longer a field that's confined to veteran actors like Denzel Washington or Morgan Freeman.

The Tupac Film is a major project, and the lead actor will get a definite breakthrough. Morgan Creek Productions and Emmett Furla Films will jointly produce the film. which will be executive produced by no less than Shakur's mother, Afeni. It will start filming in Atlanta next year.

One possible prospect for the career defining role is Michael B. Jordan. He's already distinguished himself firmly from his legendary namesake. In his recent film, "Fruitvale Station," he played Oscar Grant and the role generated award buzz for best actor. He might dispute the award with another black actor. Chiwetel Ejiafor for "12 Years A Slave."

Another prospect is Chadwick Boseman, who played Jackie Robinson in "42." That was also a breakthrough performance. Boseman can play intense roles, and has a resemblance to The Death Row Artist.

Speaking of rappers, there are certain observers that mention actual rappers to play Tupac. It's not entirely far-fetched, as many rappers have successfully made the jump, like LL Cool J and even Eminem. Somebody like Soulja Boy is a longshot.
