Kenya Mall Attack Gunmen Included 3 Americans Involved In Al-Shabaab?

A mall in Nairobi, Kenya was attacked by Islamist gunmen on Saturday, where they sprayed bullets and held shoppers captive. Al-Shabaab, a terrorist group, claims responsibility, but were three of the gunmen American?

A Twitter feed associated with Al-Shabaab offered up names and nationalities of seven of the alleged gunmen. Though all of the names appear to be Somali, three of the gunmen behind the Nairobi, Kenya mall attack claim hometowns in the United States, The Daily Beast reports.

Two of the gunmen have their hometowns listed as Minneapolis and Saint Paul in Minnesota, and another gunmen's hometown is Kansas City.

Others include hometowns in London and Helsinki, Finland.

Kenyan government and Western diplomatic sources said Al-Shabaab militants were holding about 30 hostages inside the shopping mall in Nairobi, Kenya, CNN reports.

Sixty-eight were killed in the Nairobi, Kenya mall attack shooting, and at least 175 are injured. CNN reports there may have been as many as a dozen gunmen.

"We know that they were across the building," State House spokesman Manoah Esipisu told CNN's Zain Verjee. "We know that they are now isolated somewhere within the building."

Soldiers kept vigil outside the mall, guns dangling from their shoulders, CNN reports.

"We want to do everything possible, and the security people are doing everything possible to make sure we lose no more lives," Esipisu said.
