Elizabeth Hurley has a new starring role in the TV pilot The Royals, a scripted drama for E! Entertainment Network.
The Royals is a contemporary drama about a fictional royal family informed by the regal opulence of the British monarchy and framed by Shakespeare's Hamlet.  Elizabeth Hurley will play Queen Helena, who struggles to cope with the death of her oldest son and the crisis of confidence this creates with her husband, King Simon, while working to deter the growing relationship between her middle son, now the heir apparent, and his American girlfriend.
Elizabeth Hurley was most recently seen on CW's Gossip Girl, and is most famous for her role in the Austin Powers franchise.  She has dealt with a lot of personal drama lately, as it has been rumored that she split with her cricket player boyfriend Shane Warne.  Elizabeth Hurley was spotted out without her engagement ring, which sparked the rumors.
Elizabeth Hurley addressed the boyfriend break up rumors on Twitter, saying: "Apologies to loyal followers for Twitter silence on recent events. Too raw & personal to share right now,"
Shane Warne also addressed the split rumors on Twitter, saying: "Some of the reports re EH & me r absolute rubbish. Yes we're sorting through some (private) issues. But we're not throwing the towel in yet"
Working on the new show pilot The Royals might take Elizabeth Hurley's mind off of personal drama for a while!
