Jeff Daniels 2013 Emmy Win For Best Actor In 'Newsroom' Shocks The World: 'Well, Crap' Stunned Actor Says In Acceptance Speech

Jeff Daniels won the Emmy for Outstanding Actor In A Drama for HBO's "The Newsroom," at the 2013 Emmy Awards on Sunday. It was Jeff Daniels' first Emmy award win, made obvious by his stunned expression while giving his acceptance speech.

It was a huge surprise for the audience too, who expected Bryan Cranston from "Breaking Bad" to win the Emmy award for best actor over Jeff Daniels, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.

"Well, crap!" The 58-year-old "Newsroom" actor said to start off his acceptance speech, clearly a bit taken aback by the win, E! Online reports.

"The last thing I won was a few years ago for Squid and the Whale," Daniels joked. "I won the Best Actor Over 50 from the AARP. With all due respect to the AARP, this is better."

"I didn't expect this," Daniels continued, "I usually don't win anything."

Even Emmy-winner Claire Danes from "Homeland" was caught off guard when she almost congratulated Cranston for his non-existent award, while the pair were presenting onstage, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.

"I've still got my fingers crossed for my category," Cranston quickly quipped.

"Breaking Bad" later won the Emmy for best drama.

Daniels beat out Hugh Bonneville for "Downton Abbey," Jon Hamm for "Mad Men," Bryan Cranston for "Breaking Bad," Kevin Spacey for "House Of Cards" and Damian Lewis for "Homeland," The Huffington Post reports.

Season 2 of "The Newsroom" wrapped up earlier this month.
