Surface Pro 2 Specs: Microsoft Unleashes Next-Gen Surface Pro, Claims It To Be The 'Fastest Laptop On The Market'

Earlier this year, Microsoft announced its first Windows 8-powered Surface tablet, and racked in some good numbers as far as sales is concerned. Today, the Redmond manufacturer released its successor, and to the delight of consumers, fans and analysts, it packs a ton of Surfrace Pro 2 specs.

Microsoft continues its quest to regain the computer market, this time in the tablet and portable PC categories with the Surface Pro 2. And if the previous edition was considered 'faster than 94% of laptops on the market' during its stint, Microsoft claims that the Surface Pro 2 is 20% faster, so you do the math.

Aside from performance, the manufacturer also claimed that their new Windows-powered laptop performs 50% better as far as graphics is concerned.

Another enhancement for the next-gen tablet is the improved battery life. According to Microsoft, the new battery will provide 75% more power to the Surface Pro 2 compared to the previous edition. A Power Cover keyboard accessory that comes with the laptop is also said to provide more than 2.5 times the battery of the original Surface tablet.

Other specifications of the new Surface Pro 2 tablet include Windows 8.1, the new fourth-generation Intel Core i5 Haswell processor, 4GB or 8GB of RAM, a similar HD display, and support for up to 3840x2160 of external display.

Pre-orders for Microsoft's newest laptop will start on the 23rd for $899, while it will be released on October 22.
