Upcoming Android Tablets 2013: Archos Outs GamePad 2, Packed With Quadcore Processor, 2GB RAM

There are a lot of upcoming Android tablets 2013 this quarter, and most of them run like processing beasts. But how does one virtually unknown manufacturer make headlines with its own tablet? Simple. You make it stand out.

And that is what Archos did last year with its GamePad, boasting controls on both ends of the tablet for a more convenient gaming experience. Today, it announced in a retail website the upcoming GamePad 2, which is simply an upgraded version of the previous edition.

Sporting similar design and dimensions to the original, the GamePad 2 boasts a higher screen resolution at 1280x800 pixels. There has also been a bump in memory as the tablet features 2GB of RAM to work well with the screen.

However, what seems like a huge lift for the GamePad 2 is its quadcore processor, which is an improvement to the previous version's dual core CPU. While there has no reports yet whether this would be a Snapdragon 800, this is already a feat for the budding tablet manufacturer.

According to GSM Arena, the tablet will have an 8GB and 16GB variation, and it will supprt external memory as well. While the Android looks painfully like the Sony Vita, it may have some tricks on its own sleeve.

We'll get you updated once a release date and pricing has been announced.
