‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ Movie: Ian Somerhalder Was Too Busy To Play Christian Grey, Not Upset About Not Getting Cast

Some fans were not too pleased when it was announced "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie cast would include Charlie Hunnam as Christian Grey, though "Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder was a fan favorite for the Christian Grey role. Now Ian Somerhalder speaks out about the part.

In an interview with HuffPost Live, Ian Somerhalder reveals that he was too busy to take on the possible role as Christian Grey in the "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie adaptation.

"Guys, I'm on a TV show that shoots 10 months a year, and I'm so unbelievably grateful for all the support and all the cheering and all the love," Somerhalder said during the interview.

Ian went on to let fans know that he's not disappointed about missing out on the role, The Examiner reports.

"You read all these blogs that say, 'Ian Somerhalder angry, livid, he's not in Fifty Shades of Grey.' No, no, no, no. There's none of that," he said.

However, this sounds like quite a change of attitude compared to how he responded in July, when he was asked about the part going to Charlie Hunnam instead of him.

X17video shared footage of Ian, 34, arriving at LAX after the news was revealed, CelebDirtyLaundry.com reports.

When asked if he knew who would land the role instead of him, he responded: "I don't know, you tell me."

Then the actor bitterly joked that the role should go to "Jim Carrey."

Maybe enough time has gone by for Somerhalder to get over the initial sting.
