Cast Of 'Dancing With The Stars' Bid Valerie Harper A Fond Farewell: Actress Says She Was 'Very Lucky To Be With These People' On DWTS Season 17

Valerie Harper's stint with Dancing With The Stars Season 17 ended last night.

The former "Mary Tyler Moore" show actress had teamed up with Tristan MacManus for the season. Last night, the duo danced a Viennese Waltz to the tune of 'Carry On.'

Harper, 74, is battling with terminal lung cancer and her presence on the show has inspired everybody, from judges to the hosts and the contestants.

When asked if she was sad about the elimination, the ever smiling Harper said that she is feeling 'blessed' and has a 'fabulous life.'

"I mean there have been rough times and so forth and you know. Stuff hasn't gone perfectly, but I'm so blessed in so many ways that I would be so petty to be saying the world's not going the way I want it to," said Harper in her after-show interview to Access Hollywood.

Harper stayed four weeks, charming everybody alike with her spirited performance. Talking about the timing of her elimination, she felt it came at the right time.

"I was glad to be here for four dances, and my knees are killing me," she explained. "They're not injured but they could get there... this is a blessing in disguise, as my mom had taught me," said Harper.

In January, the medics had reportedly declared all her chances of recovery as nil and said that she has another three to four months to live.

Nine months on, she is going steady and chronicling yet another tale of spirit and survival.

The cast of DWTS season 17 expressed their grief over Harper's elimination and bid her a teary-eyed farewell.

Corbin Bleu of the 'High School Musical' fame told Us Weekly, "Valerie was really this grounded one for all of us. She really pulled everybody together. You know there will be something really missing next week."

The former Jersey Shore star Snooki told US Magazine, ""She has more life than anybody else in this competition.  She's so positive. Nothing ever bothers her and she's just an inspiration."
