IU Attracts a Swarm of Fans During Filming for 'Entertainment Weekly'

K-Pop starlet IU has secured an all-kill in the music charts with the recent release of her new album Modern Times, but she has now proven her popularity in a much more personal way.

On October 9, IU held a guerilla date in Seoul's shopping mecca Myeongdong, and her appearance attracted a group of hundreds of fans.

The special event was part of the singer's participation in an episode of KBS 2TV's program "Entertainment Weekly."

The filming caused quite a stir as fans were quick to surround the star and snap pictures of her up close and personal. The congestion reportedly stopped pedestrian flow in the nearby streets for some time and fans swarmed around IU for the entirety of her visit to the shopping district.

Loen Entertainment, the pop star's agency, said about the TV program spot, "IU had a guerilla date for Entertainment Weekly on the 9th. We don't know the exact circumstances of what happened on location, but we know many fans gathered."

Currently IU's third album, Modern Times, is taking over the music charts so it is no surprise that so many fans were excited for the opportunity to see her in person.
