‘CBGB’ Movie Showcases New York Punk Scene; Ashley Greene With Behind The Scenes Revelations

The new movie, "CBGB" was named after the legendary premier punk club in New York, which featured the most influential music artists in the 70s to early 80s.

The New York Times offers a description: "Directed by Randall Miller, who wrote the screenplay with his wife, Jody Savin, the film explores the chaotic personal life, dreams and determination of the bar's shaggy-dog founder, Hilly Kristal (played by Alan Rickman), who died in 2007, and the rise of the bands he championed like Talking Heads, Television, Blondie, the Ramones and the Police."

In fact, the Police, Iggy Pop, The Ramones and Blondie will be portrayed in the film, along with the important personalities for the club. Also from the NY Times: "That sense of authenticity inspired the cast. "I went to YouTube and searched for anything Debbie Harry related," said Ms. Akerman, who portrays that Blondie singer. Ms. Sumner said she played the Patti Smith album "Horses" repeatedly. Mr. Grint met with the real Cheetah Chrome. ("I'd actually never heard of the Dead Boys," he said.) And Stana Katic broke bread with that band's producer, Genya Ravan, whom she portrays in the film."

Ashley Greene who plays the daughter of Hilly Krystal (Alan Rickman)in an interview with Collider, shares some behind the scenes moments:

On her favorite day of shooting: "There was a day where they had both Blondie and Iggy [Pop] on stage, fighting for the mic, and that was a fun day to be a part of. "

On working with Alan Rickman: "It was phenomenal, working with him.  It's always a really great thing to have an actor that does make you want to up your game.  It naturally motivates you to do and try things that maybe you wouldn't necessarily do or try.  And he was very, very supportive, and it was very safe.  You never know, when you're going in to work with people, especially of his caliber, if they're gonna be friendly or judgmental, or what have you.  There's a ton of insecurities that go into my head, before I start working with someone. "

CBGB will hit theaters on October 11.
