Upcoming Android Phones 2013: Sony Xperia Z1 Mini Officially Launched, Performs Even Better Than The Original In Benchmark Results

Yesterday, Sony officially announced the Xperia Z1 Mini (Z1 f) and will become an exclusive in Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo. Even before its launch, it has already been one of the most talked about upcoming Android phones for 2013 because of the sheer power it posseses.

In a benchmark rundown by GSM Arena of the Xperia Z1 Mini, they found out that it performs slightly better than its bigger sibling, the Xperia Z1. This is completely understandable considering both devices share the same specifications save the screen. The original Z1 has a 5" display while the Z1 Mini only has 4.3 inches of screen estate.

Come to think of it, Sony has done a great job here, hitting a portion of the Japanese market that prefers a more compact screen and a smaller device. And because the Z1 f has the best of both worlds (compact and powerful), it will surely be an great alternative.

This year, companies have been developing 'mini' phones of their current flagships. The HTC One has the One mini, Samsung's Galaxy S4 has the S4 mini, and now Sony unleashes its own 'midget' version of the phablet. But what separates it from the pack is that it completely gets the same specifications of the original, something the two other OEMs failed to do.

Let's just hope and pray that the Z1 Mini would get the nod to be launched internationally.
