Adrian Peterson Son Hospitalized: Critical Condition On Life Support: Allegedly Beaten By 27-Year-Old Boyfriend Of The Mother Now Arrested

Adrian Peterson son hospitalized in critical condition: Latest update reported that as of 10:00 am ET Friday, the Minnesota Vikings' star running back's two-year-old son is on life support.

The report from TMZ said that Adrian Peterson's son hasn't had brain activity since 5:30 p.m. Thursday. The mother of the boy reportedly said that she wants to take him off life support is his critical condition doesn't improve within 24 hours while he's hospitalized.

According to another report, Adrian Peterson's son is hospitalized in South Dakota because the man who is dating the mother of his child severely beaten  to the point that he is now in critical condition and now on life support.

Police arrested 27-year-old Joseph Patterson, who has been charged with aggravated felony assault and battery of an infant.

The police responded to a call around 5:30 in the afternoon Wednesday when they found Peterson's son unresponsive. This is when medical experts determined that the child was severely beaten causing head injuries.

"All I can say is, we are asking for prayers and for respect for our family as we deal with this tragic situation," Nelson Peterson, Adrian's father told the Pioneer Press. He also said that it is not Adrian Peterson jr.

At a news conference Friday morning, Sioux Falls police and county authorities refused to confirm Peterson was the father of the child -- but also said they had been in contact with "representatives" of the parents, according to the Pioneer Press.

"We're not here to talk about the parents of this child," Lincoln County Attorney Thomas Wollman said at the conference. "We wouldn't talk in a normal case about who the parents are."

Sioux Falls police spokesman Sam Clemens said that Patterson's relationship with the mother of the child is "fairly new." He also said that Patterson was alone with the child when the alleged incident took place.

Patterson could face up to 40 years in prison. A press conference by Peterson is in the works.
