Lance Armstrong Drug Scandal: Ex- Fiancée Sheryl Crow Knew About Doping, Tells Federal Agents

Lance Armstrong was stripped of his record setting seven Tour de France titles. His ex-fiancée Sheryl Crow was actually a witness to the illegal activities, and she told Federal Agents about it.

According to a report from NY Daily News, Sheryl Crow actually accompanied Lance to some of the illegal procedures that he underwent. From the report: "The musician accompanied Armstrong during a trip to Belgium in Armstrong's private jet for a 2004 procedure according to "Wheelmen," a book due out next Tuesday from Wall Street Journal reporters Reed Albergotti and Vanessa O'Connell."

"Rather than try to hide the transfusion from her, Armstrong was completely open about it," the authors write. "He trusted that Crow would have no desire to tell the press or anyone else about the team's doping program. He explained that it was simply part of the sport - that all cyclists were doing the same thing."

Blood transfusions give an undue advantage since it allows athletes to increase the number of oxygen-carrying red blood cells in their bodies, boosting endurance potential without using drugs. Armstrong used transfusions as well as a wide array of banned substances throughout his entire career.

Sheryl Crow was engaged to the legendary cyclist until 2006, when they called off the engagement. When federal investigators launched an investigation on Lance's alleged doping use, the singer was forced to accept a 'proffer agreement' from Food and Drug Administration criminal investigator Jeff Novitzky  The proffer agreement is a document that protects witnesses from criminal prosecution if they cooperate honestly.

The new tell-all book ""Wheelmen: Lance Armstrong, the Tour de France and the Greatest Sports Conspiracy Ever" studies the role of Lance's supporters, investors and sponsors as well as personal friends to cover up the deception behind Lance Armstrong's achievements.
